The Hikawa Shrine was a place that seemed perfect for Masako to lurk around and exist, but there was something in the air that made him uneasy. The utter serenity, goodness and peace in the air put him on edge. It was the same as the general aura in the rest of the City. Masako had a feeling it had something to do the Queen and her utter goodness, but he wasn't sure. Nor did he like it. If he had the power that she did, he would make this an utter utopia, with him at the forefront and making sure everyone would feel the wrath of Justice! But now wasn't the time for righteousness, now he had to buy his sister one of the little charms that they only sold in the Shrine. He had recently bought her a strange device called a cellular phone and there was a little hole for pretty charms to hang from it. She was eleven, but she was already blending in with the other little girls on Earth and Masako didn't want to take that from her.

So that meant he had to brave this horrendously beautiful place and buy it for her. He tightened his scarf around his neck and pulled his hat tighter onto his head. Masako was entertaining thoughts of leaving but he had already walked up the many stairs and he had made a promise. Masako always kept his promises, especially to his little sister. He looked around for the vendors and once he found them, he headed towards them very slowly. He did not want to be here.

The tan skin female felt slightly out of place amongst the hordes of lightly colored females, why did her friends want to come here again? Right those charms, which she still didn't understand why they liked those paper things, charms at home where those brightly colored beads and jewels along with some of the fortune keys. Her mind wanted to see this place though, to compare it to the shrines on Felek, along with the presence. The presence was similar the shrine not so much, it was dinky and seemed a bit run down.

The red head sighed, looking down at the charms, ”Honestly Cora why don't you buy one?” The girl right next to her asked, Cora grumbled a bit, ”None of them speak to me she gave a small shrug, a chill was sent down her spine, her eyes scanning the area, another was with them she couldn't pin point who though. Rolling her eyes again as her friend gave her a charm, almost shoving it at her, Cora looked down at it, ”Luck really?” her friend laughed, ”Yes, you need some luck in the boy depot” Cora rolled her eyes again, scoffing a bit.

Once he got closer, he saw a gaggle of teenage girls giggling over the charms. If there was something he liked less than company was the company of other teenagers. At school they always wanted him to talk and go to the movies and hang out and go shopping. All of his classmates said they wanted to be friends but that word made him nervous. Just like all of those girls made him nervous. So very nervous, but he had to get the charms for his sister's cellphone. He was the bringer of Justice! He could handle a few girls. With his resolve steeled, he headed towards the stand and girls. As he got even closer, he thought he saw someone he recognized. Red hair wasn't too common in this part of Earth, but he had to be sure.

He quietly took a spot next to the red head and her friend. He pulled his hat tighter over his head and thumbed through the cheap charms as he discreetly tried to figure out who this person was, without looking like a creep anyway. Since he walked into the shrine, he'd felt goosebumps, chills and tingling all over his body since he arrived at the shrine, but Masako was sure it was the temperature. Earth was so cold compared to Felek. He stood there looking through the charms until he heard something familiar. Cora? As in the High Priestess? All attempts at not looking like a creep gone, Masako peeked underneath hat to get a better look and it was Cora!  "Hello Cora, fancy meeting you here," he said, pointedly ignoring whoever it was his fellow Tarot member was talking to.

Cora sighed, she rather be stuck in school then be here, this places was nothing like her temple, but at the same time she still felt like she belong here. It might have been because she was a priestess herself, she also wondered who it was that actually ran the place, she wanted to pick their brain a bit. She sighed, this was boring she should show how actual charms worked. It was nothing like this, though she supposed it might be different in this world but she still felt nothing from these.

She felt someone in close range that was not here before, it made her uneasy her personal space bubble was breached, before she could see who it was, the figure spoke. She blinked a bit surprised she wasn't sure, if she heard what she saw. ”What are you doing here, Masako?” she turned slightly to the boy, her hand going up to her hip, ”This is a rather strange place for you to be isn't it?”

Masako never took his eyes off of the charms even as he talked, trying to find whichever one his sister would like best. He didn't know why she would want to fit in with a group of Earthlings but compared to him, she was a social creature and needed to interact with her environment. Masako was fine, he still had the other members of the Tarot to talk to, but Maleko wasn't allowed into their top secret meetings. He guessed it made her feel left out and that was why she was with the Earth children instead. She was always the more liked one.

Masako raised an eyebrow, but seeing as his hair was covering a good chunk of his face, it didn't show at all, much to his chagrin. He didn't think it was that strange for him to be in a place like this. He liked temples just as much as Cora did, though he wasn't a priestess. Maybe she felt a spiritual connection. Maybe the spirits were similar between planets. "Maleko wants a charm from this temple," he replied, avoiding her gaze. Hopefully that explained enough. Their numbers weren't exactly reminiscent of their ranks so much anymore, but Cora was the High Priestess! He was supposed to be her instrument of morality! He couldn't disrespect her.

Cora blinked for a moment listening to Masako, he really didn't need a reason to be here but she was still curious. She always was curious but would she ask it would depend. Her eyes drifted up toward the shrine, the birds on the shrine. They seemed to be the saviors of this place, that would make sense in her mind, her temple was guarded by rather large Cobra, a neighboring countries temple was guarded by very large tigers. So it all made sense in her mind, maybe she should add that to her dreams, travel the galaxy and see the temples of the Universe, maybe she would write a book about it. But who would she sell that too, she shrugged looking over the charms again.

As Masako spoke she nodded slowly, she didn't know much of his family but she figured it would be something. She looked over the charms a bit more, pointing out a few, ”What about these for happiness, or these over here for health, or maybe those to ward of evil and keep her safe.” though that last one he might want for himself or get that for her and not tell her sense that seemed a bit much, but she shrugged again. Licking her lips slightly she looked up at the crows once again, ”Or like all the other girls here a love charm, but I don't think your parents will like that.”

Though she wasn't much older than he was, Cora was already so much more mature, he was sure of it. She knew what all of the charms meant and what they did while here he was, bumbling around trying to find something that wasn't ugly. He kept his eyes on the charms, until he couldn't take it anymore and took a little peek at Cora. She was looking up at a pair of black birds on the top of the shrine, but Masako paid no mind to them. Creatures like that were all over this planet, nothing new, nothing out of the ordinary.

He looked over at the ones that she pointed out, but none of them seemed right. His sister was already happy, healthy and he could protect her from evil better than any phone charm could. He didn't need any for himself, since he was already pretty content, except for his lack of finding any Fortune Keys. But, one day at a time. "Won't matter. They're dead," he said impassively. He didn't talk about his parents much, but no-one really did. Masako assumed that a good chunk of the Tarot actually consisted of those who inherited their positions recently, but since some of them were scary, he didn't ask.

Cora watched the birds some more, there was just something odd about them but she really wasn't sure what it was. Guardians where Guardians, she supposed if anyone where to attack they would do something, though that was in her own mind, what she would do if she was home. Glancing at Masako she shrugged slightly, looking through the charms again, ”Luck maybe?” her eyes scanned the area as it started to empty out, her friend still hounding her about getting a love charm.

She had tuned her out for most of it, ”To bad there is nothing for doing homework, or cooking good food.” she sighed gently, touching a few of the charms again, ”'protection against black magic...” before she could say much else, she bit her tongue a bit, ”Sorry...” she took a deep breath, ”The love ones are very popular, anyways.” she mused a bit more, she was lost in thought, she had been feeling spacey lately. She needed some action to lift her mind out of her fog, her friend nudged her a bit hard as she realized she had stopped listening making Cora stumble into Masako's direction, her eyes lighting up, ”What the...” was all she could muster as she started falling.

Masako continued to look through the charms, feeling more and more lost with every glance at the charms. The luck charm was pretty enough, but he didn't think Maleko would like it. He hoped she would, it was prettier than the love ones at least. He didn't want her to fall in love with anyone on this planet either, unlike Cora's friend. Did she think she was being quiet? It seemed the same on Earth, but in Felek, it was rude to talk while other people were talking. He was right there. He shook his head at the luck charm and turned towards the other charms.  Maleko didn’t need luck, she had him to give her all the luck she needed in the world.

Maleko didn’t want to get his sister anything from this backwater shrine on this backwater planet. All of these charms were just asking for trouble to happen. Love, protection, luck, health, they were all trivial concerns when they had a planet to conquer, though maybe health was a bit more important. Masako looked a little closer at the charms. Maybe he should get her the love charm so she’d fit in. "She’ll like the love charm," he begun, before looking at Cora and seeing her fall towards him. It was if time slowed to a crawl as he saw her fall. As fast as he possibly could, he wrapped his hands around Cora and steadied her, before blushing a bright red and letting go. "Couldn’t let you fall," he mumbled, pulling his hat over his head.

Cora could feel the tension within the male, she looked around again. The place started to empty out more, ” We probably should start going to school...” her mind drifted to the day ahead. She had to go figure out how to join a club, since it was the thing to do or fit in whatever. She might be good at something but she wasn't sure she looked at the brochures while in the dorm, but nothing was too exciting, ”Crap....” she muttered, she had forgotten the application that she had to forge, ”Sorry Kiako, I have to run back to the dorm,” she bowed her head to her friend.

Cora side glanced to Masako again, ”That might be best, just so she feel like she fits in, you know these charms really don't work you know..” maybe that would lift his hesitation a little bit. Before she knew it she was falling, then being lifted up. Blushing slightly, her cheeks flushing a little, ”Thanks....” she fidgeted to fix her skirt and hair, taking a deep breath making the red go away. ” You could just have let me fall, doesn't seem like my friend really cares about me not falling.” she glanced toward her friend, looking at the time as she glanced, ”Crap, crap, crap we are late.”

Now that the crisis was over, Masako felt a little more comfortable. It was completely improper for him to so brazenly touch the High Priestess but it was an emergency, so it was excusable. Or at least that's what he told himself as he willed his blush down. Next time he would not be so bold. Then he was reminded, school. Those in his age group had to go to an institution of learning called school. And according to a quick glance of his watch, he was indeed running late for school. He didn't feel like going, but it was a cover he had to maintain, for the glory of Felek.

"You're welcome," he muttered, blush becoming more intense for a brief moment before receding. He wasn't used to gratitude from anyone, especially not someone from a higher rank. "I care. You helped with Maleko's phone charm." He took a relatively low key love charm and paid for it. Hopefully his sister would love the charm, it was pretty and cute enough for a teenage girl. Since it was time for him to leave for school as well, he waved at Cora a little and started to head out. But before he forgot, "Thank you Cora. Maybe we can do something sometime."
